God’s Word

Each year I read through the Bible using a different translation (or occasionally a paraphrase). This year it is the 2020 revision of the New American Standard Bible. Known for it’s careful translation, this version has not been among my “favorites” in that it employs language that is a bit too wooden for me at times and hearkens to a form and formality of speech of an earlier day. That said, there are places where I find the translation very engaging.

And . . . engaging or not from the standpoint of “readability for today,” it is still the Word of God and I am growing by making my way through the ASV in 2025.
